Steve's Journey

Navy Officer

After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, I attended flight school and deployed to the Western Pacific, South China Sea, and Iraq.

My final assignment was at the White House serving in the President's Emergency Operations Center (PEOC).

Early-stage Operator

My military experience prepared me as an operator at several early-stage tech companies. I was comfortable existing in the chaos of a startup trying to grow with no structure while building playbooks and systems.

I joined Lyft in 2015 as one of its first General Managers. Over four years, the company grew from 200 to 5,500 employees. I led teams across three major roles growing two of Lyft’s largest, launching new products, and owning a $500M+ P&L. I left in 2019.

I was then COO at three venture-backed busiensses across tech repair, healthcare, and wellness. Two of those companies were acquired.

Founder

My experience as an operator prepared me as a founder. Ideas is easy — going 0 to 1 is difficult. Being an operator made it easier.

I co-founded a wellness platform in 2021, which we sold in 2023.

Today, I’m the CEO & co-founder of EVPowerInsights, a company help executives, policy-makers, and investors make better decisions across the EV charging landscape.

Strategist, Consigliere

All of these experiences have prepared me to serve entrepreneurs, investors, and executives as a strategist and consigliere.

I help entrepreneurs, executives, and investors see around corners. I tell them what others won't. I help them become better at making difficult decisions.

I continue to build and operate businesses through SBD Ventures.

Husband, Dad

My wife and I live in Bethesda, MD with our two awesome boys.
